Dimitri’s International Grille History – Since 1962
We went from all Greek in the 60’s to International in the 90’s!
In the 60’s The Greek Family
Jimmy (Dimitri) and Millie Coroneos started in 1962 with the dining room menu consisting of Authentic Greek food with some American fare. The creation of Dimitri’s own Beef-ke-Bob sandwich was born with a patent rotisserie. Today we have sold over a million.
In The 70’s
We added traditional Maryland fare, along with our homemade Greek foods and appetizers, plus German gourmet Sour Beef and Dumplings (voted number 1 by Baltimore Magazine!) that started drawing customers from as far as PA, DC and VA. This continues to be our number one entree to date!
In the 80’s
We remodeled our dining room to a more family-style setting and added Italian and German dishes that were eagerly accepted. Soon after, Dimitri’s was ready for further expansion.
In The 90’s
We expanded and added 3,000 square feet. Our daughter Litsa and son Lambi graduated from college and climbed aboard the operation. We expanded more by tripling the size of the kitchen with modern equipment, adding a new sports lounge and a state of the art outside deck that can be enjoyed rain or shine. We went International with our menu and Master Chef Salvatore Alfeo developed countless Chef Creations. An 80 seat “al fresco” deck was also added, that can be used during spring and summer months.
In The 2000’s
Our daughter, Christina, and our son-in-law, Tom, joined full time by the year 2000 as we celebrated our 40th year. In April of 2002, major renovations continued with an enlarged 100 car parking lot, as well as a face-lift of the front of our business by adding Grecian columns and channel letter neons that illuminate our modified name: “Dimitri’s International Grille”.
Inside, renovations were more extravagant. The Aegean room was unveiled as the new main dining room. Seating over 70 people and equipped to serve as a banquet dining facility, the room is decorated with an enormous Grecian mural and real balconies that make you feel as you feel as though you are dining in the Mediterranean! A new grand entrance/lobby that accommodates a sitting area and new, state of the art restrooms were also added. Even the sports bar that Dimitri’s offers was rejuvenated with a dozen new flat screens and new tables, serving as a favorite place to watch the game or dine with the family.
In The 2010’s
We’ve celebrated our 57th year! In this decade Dimitri’s is keeping up the philosophy of cooking with love, quality, and consistency using only the freshest and finest ingredients. To keep in touch with current market trends, we have introduced multiple small plates and healthier dining options. We have launched both vegetarian and gluten-free menu options for those guests that have special dietary needs.
